Dell'orto/malossi 26mm carb for the mbx 80.
This is the malossi kit 26mm in diametre for the mbx 80. This is still sold as of this day. The carb should be mounted with the alu spacer of malossi. The carb is fairly expensive and isn't that good. It is difficult to make the mbx/nsr run smooth, you always seem to have a stutter in the midrange. The kit is plug and play, which means it fits the standard mbx 80 airbox and has al the bits and pieces to install it on your mbx.
Keihin imitation 28 mm diametre
available in different shops on the net. The imitation Keihin varies though in quality. Some have factory faults, other are as good as an original one. This carb is in my opinion better than the dell'orto 26mm. From my experience I use a slowjet size 42 and a mainjet between 142-148. The airscrew is fully closed. A twinair filter fits this carb. Do not forget that this carb will fit, but you'll have to do some cutting in the original airbox. You can use the malossi alu spacer, but you'll have to grind it out to 28mm, since it is 26mm in diametre. This carb is also usable on a 50cc/70cc midrange or race setup. The carb is a good performer and gives that extra boost, surely on a racesetup. When driven slow, even with a racesetup 80cc or 98cc, the fuel consumption is respectable. These carbs use the original keihin jets, so no problem in finding differend sizes.
Malossi alu spacer diametre 26mm
this alu spacer is made for the malossi/dell'orto 26mm carb. But with slight modifications it will let you fit a keihin or oko or koso carb. The alu allows you to go to maximum 30mm. It costs around 30-40 euro.
Malossi reedvalve 6 petals
The malossi 6 petal reedvalve was intentionally designed for het malossi 53mm cylinder. It is bigger en wider than a original reedvalve. Quality and finish are good and a slight gain is reached. Still available for around 35-40 euro. It will not fit a standard mbx 80 GE3G cylinder, unless you grind it.
Honda ns1 carb 21mm
The HM183 keihin honda ns1 carb is a good carb for mild tuned setups. The advantage of this carb that it fits without doing any adjustments. It is a good substitute for the original 18mm carb of the honda mbx 80 (German one). Fuel consumption is low en performs well in combination with a 55mm cylinder and the original mbx 80 pipe (German one). 300 km is possible on one gastank, so recommended for daily driving. It is hard to find this carb, and if found, a high price will be paid. But there are substitutes for this carb for a considerly lower price but with the same performance. The carb can also be used on 50cc, 65cc/70cc setups. A good performer for low or mid tuned engines. When you want more performance and fuel consumption isn't a issue just go for the oko/koso/keihin.
